There are many reasons for this UMFTA affiliate. First, is the number of fox trotter owners and horses within this region which encompasses Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Iowa. A few of these states have established affiliates, but some do not. This chapter was not formed to take away members from an existing affiliate, but to help all fox trotter owners and breeders promote our wonderful breed as a regional effort. Our members are convinced that the Missouri Fox Trotter is the best horse breed out there for the recreational rider. There are many good quality foxtrotting horses bred and raised in the Upper Midwest. We believe a combined effort is the best way to further promote the horses born and raised here through shows, clinics, trail riding, and live demonstrations. The interest in the fox trotters in the Upper Midwest is growing rapidly. The charter officers and board members represent years of fox trotter ownership and showing at local, regional, and national levels. This group alone owns over 200 registered fox trotters. Besides the participation and friendship, the charter will allow us to educate people in our area about the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse. We will also be able to hold sanctioned point shows, educational clinics, and seminars. We currently participate in the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison, Wisconsin, and have had a tremendous response to our efforts there. This web site is meant to list meeting notices, events, advertisements, news, educational stories, and member's web sites. And now, in our own region and owned by a member. A Missouri Foxtrotting Riding Academy. Located at beautiful Driftless Valley Ranch, Mazomanie, Wisconsin.

| Annette & Bob Husske |
Annette Husske recently agreed to an interview for the UMFTA newsletter. Here is the story of the Husskes, their blossoming Foxtrotter addiction and how they came to own Dallas and Tempe. Annette has a Saddlebred pleasure horse and she and husband Bob had been camping with their horsey friends, borrowing a horse for Bob whenever they went. Bob hadn't been an avid rider or camper but the group was fun and included (in Annette's words), "A bunch of nice, normal guys that Bob liked hanging out with. Pretty soon, we both wanted to camp more." |
